The game

The history of the game

Tiny Nightmares is an action-adventure game for  Spectrum 48k. This game is inspired by the succesful indie video game Little Nightmares developed by Tarsier Studios .

Tiny Nightmares is so far from Little Nightmares, because this game has a very special atmosphere and style of game, that it would be hard to replicate in a 8 bits computer as ZX Spectrum, so Tiny Nightmares is closer to the classic adventures of 80's as Pyjamarama.

Anyway, Tiny Nightmare is inspired by this great indie game, and it tries to bring a piece of its universe  to Sinclair's computer.

Instructions

In Tiny Nightmares you have to help  its protagonist,  a little  girl wearing a yellow raincoat, to escape from the nightmare world in which she is trapped, using  different objects and avoiding being captured by the evil creatures than inhabit this weird dream.

  • Left- O
  • Right- P
  • Jump - Q
  • Crouch - A
  • Fire 1 (Get/Use) - M
  • Menu/Pause - H

Remember that if you're using a Kempston joystick, the up direction will be to use and to get, and fire button will be used to jump.

Tips

  • There is not a finite number of lives, but contact with enemies or being detected by the evil watchers eyes, will make your heart race until you die.
  • When you die you'll respawn in the start screen and you'll lose the object you were carrying, but you can continue playing.
  • You can jump higher if you are running before the jump.
  • You can hide from the evil eyes  in the shadows of the objects.
  • You'll can climb over some kind of objects like jails.
  • Is easy solve the puzzles, but you'll have to  try to perform actions on the objects of the stage.
  • Be careful with falls, you can die if you fall from too high.
  • You can crouch to avoid some enemies can detect  or hear you.

Thanks for playing

Acknowledgements

Mainly thanks to Jonathan Cauldwell for his contributions to the Spectrum world such as  MPAGD, AGD or  SEUD, which many times it seems that they are not given the importance they have.

Also thanks to the rest of the programmers who strive to create applications and programs like Autosiril Midi (Siril), Musicizer (David Saphier) or ZX paintbrush (Claude Jhan) that help those of us who don't have even a tenth of the knowledgement they have.

Thank him also for the effort and work that people like Javier Ortiz, El Spectrumero or Arnau Jess. Thank him for being there and making it possible to build a Spectrum community around their channels.

Finally, I would also like to thank Felipe Monge for his work as an editorof physical games with PlayOnRetro, helping to turn an activity that is little more than a hobby into something completely professional.

And of course, thanks to all of us who continue and will continue, playing in 8-bits even if it's a minimum of the little time we have.

Felicidades!

Great game. I'm stuck on level 2 - link because of spoilers

Am I on the right track?

Thank you for playing it, You can get the lighter if you come trough the trap in the blind Janitor's screen, and when you appear in the eye's screen, get speed running along the shelf and jump to the lamp and after it, jump again over the boxes.

The game atmosphere is thrilling!

I need help: no idea what to do with `wire` and `heavy weight`!

Thank you very much for playing, the wire is needed to repair some broken wire line, and the heavy weight has to be hanged from a chain to use it as a counterweight, to move the cage. I hope I explained it well.

Nice game!
